Sleep-well Blog
If you are a man over 50 you may find this interesting and useful.
I am going through the usual prostate growth problem. I have double size prostate with heavy walls.
Most men have a prostate growth after their late 40s. Cells in the central portion reproduce more rapidly, resulting in prostate gland enlargement. As a result it compress the urethra and partially block urine flow. It is called Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
These are the symptoms:
Weak urine stream,
Difficulty starting urination,
Stopping and starting while urinating,
Dribbling at the end of urination,
Straining while urinating,
Frequent need to urinate,
Increased frequency of urination at night,
Urgent need to urinate,
Not being able to completely empty the bladder,
Blood in the urine (hematuria)
Urinary tract infection.
These are the possible treatments.
Medications
Nonsurgical therapies
Microwave therapy
Transurethral needle ablation (TUNA).
Interstitial laser therapy (ILT)
Prostatic stents
Surgery:
Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP)
Transurethral incision of the prostate (TUIP)
Laser surgery etc...
My doctor asked for a penetrating ultrasound check. This took about 40 minutes which is not painful but uncomfortable.
Because of the thick wall, I have a hard time retaining fluid for an hour and hard time to control its flow. Hence the ultrasound check was uncomfortable. On top of it they asked me to drink 1 liter of water.
During this test they found a stone in the urinal pouch.
After my urologist looked over the ultrasound result, he told me that he wants to operate on me to which I agreed.
The operation is called TURP.
Before the procedure, I was anaesthetised from the waist down. After which, the surgeon threads a narrow instrument into the urethra and uses small cutting tools to scrape away excess prostate tissue.
TURP is the most effective surgical procedure and relieves symptoms quickly.
After the operation I experienced a stronger urine flow within a few days.
I should add that the operation was painless and so was the recovery which lasted more than three weeks.
The reason I am writing this in detail because I wish to extend my assurance based on my case that this is a good thing to do. Today my systems behave as it did thirty years ago and I am more than 70.
There is one more thing to the story. After the operation, I had a hard time to sleep. Because I had to drink lots of water I was up during the night every hour. Later I settled for every hour and a half.
To get back to sleep eight to ten time each night, I used the technique which I describe in the ACTION PAGE. This page is not in operation on this website (I need to initiate a so called shopping cart).
In the meantime you may contact me at jlelkea077@rogers.com and I send you the instruction what to do. I charge Cnd or US $24.00 for this and the post is pre-paid by me.
Go to my HOME page to read more about this entirely natural sleeping skill.
It took me about five weeks to get back to my usual 7 to 8 hours sleep pattern.
